As part of a 20-Year Master Plan, the Vancouver Airport Authority undertook an expansion of the domestic terminal facilities at Vancouver International Airport. The expanded domestic terminal is supplied with fuel through a new underground pipeline and hydrant system that is connected to the existing underground network.

The $6.5 million system provides in-ground fuelling for up to thirteen new aircraft gates. The facilities were built upon one of the oldest areas of the existing terminal where significant accumulations of petroleum product existed below ground, which were removed prior to the new construction.
