The jet fuel infrastructure has recently undergone a significant expansion at the Winnipeg James Armstrong Richardson International Airport (YWG). A new underground jet fuel hydrant system was constructed in conjunction with the Winnipeg Airports Authority’s development of a new passenger terminal and concrete tarmac.
The fuel facility now consists of a jet fuel storage tank farm, underground jet fuel hydrant system, and gasoline and diesel storage and distribution facilities. Jet fuel is delivered into the tank farm by tanker truck, and is distributed to each aircraft gate through the hydrant system.
Services at the airport are provided by the Canadian Fuel Consortia, and include facility administration, into-plane fuelling and tank farm management. Approximately 26,000 flights are fuelled annually at the airport.
