The fuel facility at the Ottawa Macdonald-Cartier International Airport (YOW) was recently expanded from two million to four million litres to keep pace with growing demand and to improve on-airport fuel reserves. The facility consists of a jet fuel storage tank farm, and gasoline and diesel storage and distribution facilities.
Jet fuel is received by tanker truck and is stored in four aboveground tanks. Services at the airport are provided by the Canadian Fuel Consortia, and include facility administration, into-plane fuelling by refuelling tankers and tank farm management. Approximately 35,000 flights are fuelled annually at the airport.
